Departure to PICO DOS BARCELOS, viewpoint from where you can admire a beautiful view over Funchal. EIRA DO SERRADO, viewpoint (1094 mts) overlooking the valley of Curral das Freiras - Nun’s Valley - a little village built in the crater of an extinct volcano. Excellent views over the village and the mountains.
Continue to MONTE, Little village in the suburbs of Funchal known for the famous sledge ride - Toboggan (optional).
Our first stop is at PICO DA TORRE from where we enjoy the splendid views over CÂMARA DE LOBOS an attractive fishing village captured in the paintings of Sir Winston Churchill. We next stop at CABO GIRÃO the world's second highest sea cliff, and then drive to the picturesque village of RIBEIRA BRAVA on the southwest coast. A stop is made at ENCUMEADA to enjoy the view over both sides of the island, before continuing to S.VICENTE a pretty village set amidst volcanic peaks at the north side of the island. We continue to PORTO MONIZ the north western point were lunch will be taken, natural bathing pools can be found here amongst the bizarre rock formations.
En route back to Funchal we pass the only plateau of the island PAUL DA SERRA and the villages of CANHAS, PONTA DO SOL.
Departure to CAMACHA, the centre of the wickerwork where you have opportunity to buy some of these articles since there is a big exhibition and shop. After Pico do ARIEIRO, the second highest peak of the island at 1810 meters with spectacular views over the deep valleys and high peaks in the interior of the island. Continuation to Santana passing trough RIBEIRO FRIO. At SANTANA, visit of typical small thatched cottages. Lunch and departure to MACHICO, the first village of the island and where the discoverers have disembarked.
Dinner at a typical Madeira Restaurant where the main dish is the Espetada (beef on a skewer spiced and grilled over open fire) and other delicacies of Madeira cookery (Coffee & Wine included).
