Alentejo

The extensive Alentejo region lies between the Tagus River and the Algarve. To the east it borders Spain and to the west it is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. An essentially rural and sparsely populated region, it occupies about one-third of the country. The beauty of the landscape and the quality of its archaeological, monumental, architectural and ethnographic heritage, together with its excellent food and wines, make it an exceptional destination for a journey of discovery that combines both nature tourism and cultural tourism.
